Apprenticeship
The ABC New Orleans/Bayou Chapter Apprenticeship Program is a four year program for all students who are indentured with the Louisiana Department of Labor. All courses are NCCER certified. The course is competency based, with testing for both technical knowledge and skill.
Apprenticeship training begins with the Core curriculum, which provides basic construction orientation for entry level trainees, before advancing to craft specific material. In addition to classroom work, trainees in the Apprenticeship Program are required to accumulate 2,000 hours of on-the-job training per year.
Please note: In order to become a Registered Apprentice, you MUST be working for a member company that participates in the Apprenticeship Program.
Apprenticeship Training Opportunities:
Carpentry
Electrical
Plumbing
Sheetmetal
Sprinkler Fitter (correspondence course)
Our campus currently offers apprenticeship training every Fall semester for Electrical.
(Other crafts are available off campus.)
